When God created the heavens and earth, He said it was good! The Garden of Eden was lush, a place of abundance. The Lord God caused a mist to come up from the ground, Gen. 2:6. Imagine that man didn’t have to water the vegetation. Not to mention the four river heads that flowed out of the garden; that looks like living waters (John 4:10). God put the man whom He formed in the garden and commanded the man to eat freely, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest, you shall surely die, Gen. 2:15-17. One may wonder why? Would God make something available that He doesn’t desire for man to explore? God is love, and love gives free will. Although the Lord commanded that the man not eat of the tree of life, He blessed him with companionship. So in this environment of richness, the Lord God said, “It’s not good for man to be alone,” Gen. 2:18. Imagine that! The Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh, Gen. 2:21. God honors His creation by choosing to use the man to bring out the woman. He also brought forth His Son (through a woman) by the virgin birth, and He shall be called Jesus (Yeshua-Salvation), for He shall save His people from their sins (Matt. 1:18-21)

Jesus, the tree of life?

Now the man, Adam, followed his companion instead of the Lord God. But the Lord God spoke of the virgin birth in the garden of Eden: to the serpent, He said, “I will put enmity between you and the woman. Between her seed and your seed (But woman don’t have seed?), He shall bruise your head. And you shall bruise His heel, Gen. 3:15. Here is evidence that Satan isn’t omnipotent. He doesn’t know anything, but what we say! Satan didn’t know where the Messiah would be born or to who. Jesus came! He broke tradition. Like at Jacob’s, well, an awkward and telling moment. He conversed with a woman of a particular class that Jews nor Samaritans have no dealings with, John 4:9. Now, back to the Garden of Eden! The act of agreeing with Satan caused them (Adam and Eve) to be expelled from paradise. God placed cherubim and a sword to guard the way of the tree of life, Gen. 3:24. The Lord God said, behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand and also take of the tree of life and eat and live forever, Gen. 3:22. That sounds like Jesus in typology: Jesus said, “Whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Jesus is the bread of life. (John 6:35). And what do we do with bread? We eat it! So, feed on Jesus and live forever! Hallelujah??

The present-day Garden of Eden! Jesus!

For the new covenant believer, our Garden of Eden is Jesus Christ. Why am I saying this? Because when you read Genesis 1 and 2, you see all the Lord God did was good! The four river heads flowing out of the garden were a type of Jesus. Jesus said to a Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God and who it is who says to you, “Give Me a drink,” you would ask Him, and He would give you living water,” John 4:4. Jesus came and revealed Himself to those that tradition rejected. The Samaritan woman said to Jesus, “I know that the Messiah is coming” (who is called the Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things,” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He” (John 4:25-26). Jesus came restoring man to his position with God. For in the day that you accept Jesus as Lord of your life, you shalt surely experience life more abundantly. Now and the everlasting. Jesus, the worry-free zone!
