What is Driving You?
For sure, it isn’t the Lord. Those things that drive bear a sense, if not a force to deteriorate the peace God intends to lead you in His path. He, the Lord, leads me beside the still waters (Psalm 23:2). Have you ever observed still waters? It’s a place of serenity—a location of equilibrium that is soothing to your intellect and emotions.
The word shepherd from a natural faculty can’t elucidate the Lord’s commitment to His people but serves as a metaphor a beautiful point to God’s devotion for man. The Lord cares about your physical existence; He is your shepherd. He wants to satisfy your every need (Psalm 23:1).
Guard Your heart
Man sees the world through his natural eyes, but the Lord is best viewed with the heart. With the heart, man believes in righteousness, and with his mouth, he sets the course of his eternity (Romans 10:10). For out of one’s heart flows the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).
Listen to the good shepherd
The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep (John 10:10). The shepherd I’m speaking of calls His sheep by name. Yes, He knows your name, and He is easy to entreat, His ways are uncomplicated, and His burden is light (Matt. 11:30). Learn of Me; He says for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you shall obtain rest.
Jesus Offers No Hurriedness
So, next time you need to decide, you feel a sense of being driven. Know this it’s not the good shepherd, but a hireling that has come to scatter the sheep (John 10:13) and along with it your peace. The idea to satisfy a temporary need or desire can be viewed as a hireling. The term hireling is described as working purely for material reward. Why? Because it’s not leading you to a place of rest.
Follow the quiet leading
When you experience an inward nudge to refrain or a peace that flows in a direction, that is where the shepherd leads, guides, and protects. The more time you spend with the Father seeking His will, the more He will show you His darling Son Jesus.
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
Romans 8:16
Yes, Jesus is the answer. First, invite the Lord Jesus into your heart, then always without fail, invite Him into the decision-making process and wait on Him! Invite Him in, and He will lead you, never driving, never pulling, only leading!
