Wake to Righteousness
And sin not!
1 Corinthians 15:34
This morning I heard this scripture upon waking: wake to righteousness and sin not. As I muttered the scripture to myself and the Lord, I opened my Bible to 1 Corinthians 15:33-35 KJV. As I was reading verse 34 first, then the scripture before and after to keep the verse in perspective.
All scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16
Scripture in Context
Be not deceived: evil communication corrupts good manners. Awake to righteousness and sin not; for some do not know God: I speak this to your shame. But some will say, how are the dead raised? And with what body do they come? Immediately I thought Apostle Paul was talking about association influence, which prompted me to read the entire chapter of 1 Corinthians 15.
Putting Scripture in Useable Form
However, as I am reading, I ask Father God what the association with my first thoughts of the day is, wake to righteousness and sin not. Waking to righteousness brought me to what or who is God’s idea of righteousness.
People’s lives are not their own; it is not for man to direct their steps
Jeremiah 10:23
The standard way wake means suspending an activity to replace another. But we children of God can’t wake ourselves; it is God that we are in Christ Jesus, who became God-given wisdom for us-our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption-1 Corinthians 1:30, Holman Christian Standard Bible.
Jesus, Our Righteousness Will Lead You!
Wake to Jesus, and He will lead you to sin, not. Righteousness is a consciousness that is only obtained through fellowship with Jesus Christ.
Let Him be your constant companion!
God loves You!
Jesus is Lord!
Beloved, I love You too!
