The person of my heavenly father!
Some years ago, I listened to the NIV version of the Bible and read along. The idea was to download God’s word into my heart and mind simultaneously. The process took a little over a year. During that time, Father God became a person in my heart and mind. His love for Israel and His frustration with their spiritual adultery. In all of my years of attending church God wasn’t a person, but a faraway powerful divine entity waiting for me to mess-up to swat me. The revelation of God being a person, moved me to acknowledge His Lordship with joy and gratitude. It’s difficult to disregard a loving father than a faraway angry God. That’s why the law doesn’t work.
Tithing isn’t a duty, but something I get to do. It’s a relationship thing I get to tithe! I get to partake of the Lord supper! These things became activities of my love relationship with Father. I get to claim all the promises given to me through the blood of Jesus Christ. These realities in Christ Jesus didn’t make me infallible, and I didn’t need to be. God sees Jesus Christ and not me when I come to Him. I can come boldly to the throne of grace in time of need Hebrews 4:16. What a relief to know I don’t need to be perfect because Jesus is my perfection.
I don’t need to be cleaned because Jesus said I am already clean because of the word which He speaks to me John 15:3. Daily, He speaks to me, giving calm and peace. Best described by Jesus Howbeit when He the Spirit of truth is come He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come John 16:13. To know things that are to come is a place of security. Now no man nowhere can offer that kind of security! But God can and does. Imagine that a loving father offering protection for now and the future. Only He can put you in the right place at the right time! Trust God He so loved that He gave His only begotten Son, John 3:16, so that you may have life more abundantly John 10:10. Live the abundant life in Jesus Christ!
