See Jesus as Your Righteousness!
Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33
Have you ever spent time meditating on the above scripture? Yesterday, as I was praying, this verse came to mind, but it was how I was initially taught this scripture. For many years, I attended a non-denominational church, and this scripture verse was followed up with this phrase: seeking God’s way of doing things right! That couldn’t be what that scripture means. Why?
Jesus God’s Righteousness
God’s righteousness is Jesus Christ; the above scripture tells us to seek and lean on Him. This made me think of the Disciple John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, John 13:23. In John 13:21-27 Jesus is speaking about being betrayed, and Peter beckoned to the one leaning on the bosom of the Lord and asked Him whom He was speaking of, He said, “To the one I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it.” Jesus gave it to Judas.
Lean on Him
Okay, I realize we can’t physically lean on the bosom of Jesus. But our leaning is meditating on Him. The only way to know God’s will is to study Jesus whom He sent, John 17:3. Not me seeking God’s way of doing things right! Think about it for a moment; our righteousness is described as “filthy rags” Isaiah 64:6.
Jesus is our righteousness!
2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus Died for You!
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus. That whoever believes in Him, Jesus, should not perish but have everlasting life, John 3:16. Believing in Jesus is believing in Father God who sent Him. So, think about this for a moment! Every person in the world, Jesus Christ, died for them! I mean, He died for people who didn’t know Him and didn’t care to know Him, and in a moment of melancholy, we suppose that we could work our way to righteousness, please! We cannot produce righteous works! God’s grace provided us a way to come to Him; without Jesus, there is no way to our heavenly Father.
Experience all God’s Best in Jesus Christ
Seek Jesus your righteousness, and everything you need will be added. The Apostle Paul preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 28:31. Experience all that Father God has for you. Dwell on take up residence in Jesus Christ, and all the things you need are yours, not my opinion but God’s word and He is not a man that He should lie, Numbers 23:19.
Beloved pray with me:
Dear Father God,
I put my trust in the finished works of Jesus Christ at the cross
Lord Jesus, come into my heart.
Thank you for boring all my sins at the cross.
Thank you for being my Lord.
In Jesus name!
Amen
