no lack in god
Lack came into humanity with sin. From the very beginning in the garden of Eden, the man had opulence and abundance. It was paradise! The Lord God put the man in a completed work (Gen. 2:8). The Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. God created creation with reproduction in it, imagine that! The trees that bore fruit had seeds. Seeds mean multiplication. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Is this to say the tree in the middle was a fruit-bearing type of tree? Could that be the book of wisdom-Proverbs? For the Lord gives wisdom (Proverbs 2:6).
The description of the area speaks of a richness that’s difficult to imagine the Bible speaks of gold and onyx stones and four river heads. Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four river heads (Gen. 2:10). The beautiful vegetation that the Lord God caused to grow with perfect hydration. An ideal utopia complete with a compatible help-mate (Gen. 2:18). Adam had a perfect life, but couldn’t see how marvelous his world was. Adam was a man without sin but still sinned against the Lord God. This initial picture of the Lord God speaks of His nature; he made man with a free-will. The man took his free will and disregarded the relationship with the Lord (Gen. 3).
Consequently, he got kicked out of paradise ( Gen.3:23). Sin distanced man from God. Distanced from God meant everything the garden offered was gone. The man had to work (Gen. 3:23). God never intended for man to toil, but to till the land He, the Lord God hydrated. Adam lost a partnership where nothing was missing or broken, does that sound familiar? It should sound familiar to us who have attended church and read the Bible. The Bible has several accounts of God, aiding those that sought His help. David is one example and is described as a man after God’s heart ( Acts 13:22) when his city got attacked by the Amalekites. They raided and burned the place, kidnapped his family, and the families of his men (1 Sam. 30:3).
David said to Abiathar, the priest, “please bring the ephod (a type of Holy Spirit) to me” (1 Sam. 30:7-8). Abiathar brought the ephod to David. David inquired of the Lord, saying, “shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He said to him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail, recover all.” God gave David victory. He recovered all the Amalekites stole. And here it is! And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything they had taken from them; David recovered all (1 Sam. 30; 19-20).
Nothing missing and nothing broken! What amazes me in this situation is David inquired of the Lord. It would seem like it would be obvious what to do, but David sought the Lord! An example of what to do in a dire straits moment. The Bible says David and the people who were with him lifted their voices and wept until they had no power to weep. But what did David do? Seek the Lord, not bend in compassion to serve the people. We have a better covenant then David. He had a priest whose father was a man and a type of Holy Spirit the ephod; we have a great High Priest, the son of God Jesus Christ (Heb. 4:14). We have the Holy Spirit within us. The Lord God has always given man His best. It’s a trick of the Devil to paint a picture of a stingy God. From the garden of Eden to Jesus Christ at Calvary paying, our sin debt. Father God never took, He gave! God so loved that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
