Jesus Your Destiny
God designed you with a specific purpose in His mind. He chose you from the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4). I’ve often pondered this fact that I am predestined? God created me for a specific purpose. Everything God created in Gen. 1 and 2 was good, and I must believe so am I! In fact, in the new covenant, God doesn’t see me when He looks at me; He sees Jesus. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave Himself for me (Gal. 2:20). God sees the His Son’s works at the cross, not me. My sin debt has been paid, no overpaid by the blood of Jesus. I can live free of sin consciousness because of the blood of Jesus. The state of no condemnation in Christ Jesus is a state of freedom. That only He can walk you through for its fullness of grace to be revealed. Youth can be an asset or liability when you don’t know God created you for a purpose! In my youth, I believed I charted my course in life. How wrong I was! After serving 30 years in the wrong profession, I felt like I wasted most of my life.
But God called Moses at 70+ years to lead His people out of captivity.
(Deut. 34:7)
Nevertheless, during that time, God still used me. See, I didn’t know I had a passion for serving people by spreading the gospel. The more I got to know Jesus, the more I wanted to talk about Him! On my job, I became known for speaking about the Bible, my passion! That put me in a position to lead a few to Jesus Christ and invite them to my church. But what I didn’t fully realize was I was violating policy in some cases. Not because I was talking about Jesus, but because of who they were. See, I was a law enforcement officer. As a law enforcement officer, I wasn’t supposed to have affiliation with felons, and in some situations, I was praying for and with a convict. This act is called fraternization.
Now the policies of the department weren’t the problem. My inability to seek God was the problem. When I left the department, I thought Jesus would’ve gotten fired from that place! ? Jesus had a prostitute massage Him in public; He healed the sick on the sabbath. Jesus hung out with tax collectors, which were thieves and sinners. For Him to be a jew, but to spend time with gentiles, which were referred to as dogs, meant Jesus hung out with degenerates according to modern standards. But He was on assignment, and He did as His Father told Him (John 5:19). God never told me to go into law enforcement; I made that decision! My grandmother said, “that’s a good job.” One of my college professors said, “I don’t think your law enforcement material.” But my thinking was since I was told, “I spoke with authority and conviction,” plus I thought it was a people servicing field that made me law enforcement material. I was wrong! My professor was right! I didn’t know to ask or think what does this man mean by that? Nor did I understand I was born on purpose with a purpose! I allowed everything but God to influence my decision. Oh yeah, that policy violation eventually led to my retirement ???.
From spending thirty-year in the wrong place, I’ve learned God’s direction is the best, and it’s never too late! God used Moses at 70+ (Deut. 34:7). God used Jonah after he refused his assignment and protected him in his state of refusal (Jonah 1:3, 3:10). And Jesus used Peter after he denied Him three times (Matt. 26:69-75). Jesus asked Peter, “do you love me? Feed my lambs, tend my sheep and again feed my sheep” (John 21:15-17). Jesus ordains a man that denied Him to pasture His flock. Wow! Don’t forget about Saul, the man Jesus had to knock off his feet for him to realize Jesus is Lord (Acts 9). Saul was zealous to murder the Lord’s disciples, but God used him to write two-thirds of the new testament.
What a good God!
Ask Father God what you were born to do? He wants to hear from you, His precious one. Jesus loves you!
