Jesus Will Meet You at Your Point of Lost!

The Son of man came to seek and save that which was lost.

Luke 19:10

Jesus loves you; a phrase gazed over by the notion of a religious idea and not a fact that the Son of God, the world’s Savior, came to save what was lost. He revealed Himself to those who society considered outcasts, like the Samarian woman at Jacob’s well.

Scripture describes this woman as coming to the well at the sixth hour, noon, the hottest point of the day. I’ve read this story several times, but today I realized her shame had her there at that hour. This woman wasn’t a woman to be respected by the Jews or anyone else, for that matter. But God gave her a divine appointment. 

The Messiah Needed to Go Through Samaria  

Now Jesus started a conversation with a woman in Samaria; imagine that for a second. We’re talking about a time when men wouldn’t have a conversation with a woman, let alone request a drink from her. But Jesus did! Not only did He ask her for a drink, but He revealed that He is the Messiah (John 4:25).

An Adulteress Meets Her Savior! 

When Jesus told her, “Go call your husband and come here.” The woman answered Him, saying, “I don’t have a husband.” Jesus continues to talk with this lady. He said, “You have well said, “I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband (John 4:15-17).” Wow! This lady was trying to avoid people but ran into the Savior of the world!   

Jesus Came for The Lost! 

From the standpoint of the tradition of that time, the ones that served the temple (Pharisees and Sadducees) took little time to converse with the outcasts. But notice Jesus spent time with the tax collectors and sinners (Mark 2:15), remember He came to the world for the world that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). 

 Jesus came to save the lost as I meditate on that truth! I am reminded of some years ago when I traveled to Italy for the first time. Eager to see all Rome had to offer after my flight, I skipped a nap at the hotel and went straight to the Vatican after dropping off my luggage. After several hours of walking around and taking pictures, I realized I had been awake for over twenty-four hours; exhaustion took over my enthusiasm. 

You Are Nowhere God’s Not!

I left the Vatican to return to the train station, or so I thought! After walking for a while, I realized I was lost. I told the Lord; I need a map; I’m lost! Within me, Rose, you have a map; I said no, I don’t! I continued to walk and talk to Jesus again. I said again, Lord Jesus, I am lost, and then I heard from within me, “The Phone.” I thought with it work here. I opened my phone to maps and typed in the hotel address, and immediately the walkway lit up; within minutes, I was at my hotel. Suffice it to say whether you are lost in the shame of your sin of drug addiction, adultery, or just walking around disoriented in Italy, Jesus is with you!

Be encouraged. Father God loves you so much that He sent you a Savior! His only begotten Son, whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Believe the Lord God has thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
