Jesus Savior of The World

In a few days, we celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth on assignment to rescue us from our sins. He is meekness and majesty, manhood and deity all God and all man. He died for the ungodly, not the godly, but the ungodly. Did you get that? (Romans 5:6). Betrayed by one of the disciples, accused and given a mock trial by the high priest and elders. Then He (Jesus) was turned over to Pontius Pilate, where He is questioned. He’s ordered to be scourged by Pilate. His crime was teaching with authority, not as the scribes and being born King (Matt.2:2 and 7:29). During that time, Judas, the betrayer, returns the thirty pieces of silver to the high priest and elders then hangs himself. (If Judas’ would’ve waited, Jesus would’ve paid the cost for his sins. Yes, even Judas!) The high priest and rulers’ discussion about the silver coins cause me to pause, think, and reread Matt. 27:6? So, it’s wrong to put money in the temple treasury used to plot an execution, but it’s acceptable to lie about a man (Jesus) forbidding to pay taxes (Luke 23:2).

While Pilate sat in the judgment seat, his wife sent him a word, “Not to have anything to do with that just man I have suffered many things in a dream because of Him (Matt. 27:19).” When the chief priest mentions Galilee to Pilate, he thought this is King Herod’s problem. He sent Jesus to Him, and Herod questions and mocks Him, but He (Jesus) answers not a word. Herod sends Him back to Pontius Pilate the same day (Luke 23:5-11). Pontius Pilate questioned Jesus, and He said not a word. Both Herod and Pilate found no wrong in Him worthy of death (Luke 23:15). The temple leaders so manipulated the crowd as to curse themselves and future generations. (Matt. 27:20-25). Pontius Pilate didn’t want to crucify Jesus, but they were insistent, and he allowed the chief priest to prevail (Luke 23:20-24). By way of the governor’s feast, it was the custom to release one prisoner whom the multitude wished (Matt. 27:15). Pontius Pilate washed his hands and stated before the assembly, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it” (Matt. 27:24). But this is the prophecy of Isaiah 54. I can glean so many lessons from this story, but the number one precept is God did all this for me/us; I say for me because the scriptures are my Heavenly Father speaking to me! Jesus died for us. He (God my Father) made Him (Jesus), who knew no sin to be for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (II Corin. 5:21).

Everything rises and falls on leadership.

                                                                -John C. Maxwell

The second principle is leadership. Jesus Christ wants to be the Lord (the leader) of your life (Romans 10:9). And God wants you to hear Him, not the law, not the prophets, but Him (Matt. 17:5). He is the ultimate leader. When you get Him, you get all three in one Father Son and the Holy Spirit (John 16:13-15). Invite Him in your heart to guide and save you! Celebrate our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
