Jesus Christ, Our Righteousness
God’s Wisdom!
As I was reading Proverbs 10, my thoughts were arrested. Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God for us, the believer! Not only is He the author and finisher of our faith, Hebrew 12:2, but He’s our righteousness, 2 Corinthians. 5:21. God’s truths and wisdom never go out of style!
Proverbs 10
Every verse speaks of righteousness, not as a person but as a character. All that is right is embodied in our lovely Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Righteousness delivers from death. Jesus came that we may have life and have it more abundantly, John 10:10.
Proverbs 10:2
The memory of the righteous is blessed. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to see the many faces of Jesus.
Proverbs 10:7
The mouth of the righteous is a well of life. We still drink from the well of Jesus. It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Matt. 4:4
Proverbs 10:11
The labour of the righteous leads to life. Jesus prayed, “I have finished the work which You have given Me to do,” John 17:4.
Proverbs 10:16
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver. Jesus said, “For I have not spoken on My authority, but the Father who sent Me gave Me command, What I should speak.” John 12:49
Proverbs 10:20
The lips of the righteous feed many. Jesus told Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord: You know that I love.” Jesus said, “Feed My lambs.” A second time, He said to him again, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Tend My sheep.” He said a third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, “Do you love me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.” John 21:15-17. In this story, Jesus prepared breakfast for the disciples and commissioned a man who denied Him three times, Matthew 26:70-75. Jesus didn’t give up on the man that contested His association. He instead delegated him to feed His sheep.
BY HIS MOUTH, JESUS FED AND STILL FEEDS MANY!
Proverbs 10:21
The desire of the righteous will be granted. Jesus said, “I have manifested Your name to the men You have given Me out of the world” John 17:6.
Proverbs 10:24
The righteous has an everlasting foundation. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation, Col. 1:15.
Proverbs 10:25
The hope of the righteous will be gladness. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God and Me. Many mansions are in my Father’s house; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you to Myself: that where I am there, you may also be.” John 14:1-4.
Proverbs 10:28
The righteous will never be removed. Every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord, Phil. 2:10-11.
Proverbs 10:30
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable. So, Jesus prayed, “I have declared to them Your name (Father) and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me be in them and I in them.” John 17:26.
Proverbs 10:32
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things become new, 2 Corinthians 5:17. Child of God, you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, 2 Corinthians 5:21. No longer does God expect you to stand before him alone, but in Jesus whom God the Father sent! John 17:3.
