Write the vision and make it plain!

Habakkuk 2:2

Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy

Recently, a friend asked me to write down the phone number. I stopped what I was doing to copy the number, but days later, I remembered the phone number. I was in awe over recalling a phone number given to me only once.  I don’t know my best friend’s number by memory, and we speak nearly daily. Does greater clarity come from writing? Then I remembered what the Bible said about writing: write the vision, and make it plain (Habakkuk 2:2)

Memory and Writing!

What is the correlation between writing and memory? And was this why my elementary school teachers would have us write the spelling words several times daily? And could God’s word be committed the same way? A study of university students and recent graduates has revealed that writing on physical paper can lead to more brain activity when remembering the information an hour later. The unique, complex information in analogue methods likely gives the brain more details to trigger a memory. The networking, spatial, and tactile attributes associated with writing by hand on physical paper likely lead to improved memory.

Committing the Bible to Memory!

Electronics have made us mentally lazy. I recall hearing a preacher recently say kings copied out the law so that they would remember the rule. Deuteronomy 17:18 NLT, the king copied this body of instruction on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. The king was in a classroom setting, so he would not forget the law. The priest was a type of teacher, and writing was the process by which the law was committed to memory.

Let’s Copy Out and Remember we are in Jesus:

We are not under the law, but under grace, Romans 6:14. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, II Corinthians 5:21. We are a new creation in Christ Jesus, II Corinthians 5:17, something that never existed before. Beloved, we have a Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom Father God sent in Jesus’ name to teach us all things and bring to our remembrance all He has said to us. He has given us peace!

Beloved,

Let’s Memorize His Word to Change Our Walk!
