Does Father God Require Perfect Faith?
By Imperfect Faith Abraham and Sarah Received!
While sharing my concerns with a friend, her response caused me to ponder: “Grace, your faith isn’t there yet to receive what God has for you!” I thought about whether Father God requires perfect faith to receive from Him. Well, no! Abraham didn’t have perfect faith, nor did his wife Sarah, but they received Isaac as the Lord promised!
Is Perfect Faith Self-Effort? No!
Sarai told her husband, Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go into my maid; perhaps (a word of uncertainty or possibility and doubt) I shall obtain children by her.” It wasn’t until after Ismael was born that the Lord said to Abraham, “I bless her, Sarah, and give you a son by her, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him and his descendants forever, Genesis 17:19.
Does Father God Require Perfect Faith? No!
Obviously not! Abram and Sarai had to have had many conversations about having children, and in frustration, Sarai said, “Go to my maid.” But God still blessed them despite their laughing (Sarah laughed, Genesis 18:12-15; Abraham laughed, Genesis 17:17) and their self-effort event with Hagar (Genesis 16:2).
Belief in God
When I heard your faith is not there yet! Although well-meaning, it was a statement of doubt and qualifying to receive from God. Your Faith! Statements are scripturally inaccurate; if man’s faith could save himself, he wouldn’t need a Savior. This business with Abraham and Sarah, although they believed in God, but time was passing and still no child!
Abraham believed in God, and it was accounted to him for Righteousness.
Romans 4:3
Faith in Jesus Accounts us for Righteousness!
Jesus is our Righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30-31), and He was sent by the only true God (John 17:3); Jesus is our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14), and what does the High Priest do? He represents us before God; our representative is the Son of God, Jesus; he is without sin; without sin is how we are before Father God. Suffice it to say, see all that God has for you through the lens of Righteousness, which is Jesus!
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16)! God did that for an unbelieving world; Christ died for the ungodly (Romans 5:6)!
Don’t know Jesus? He is a prayer away!
Pray,
Lord Jesus, thank you for loving and dying for me on the cross. Your precious blood washes me clean of every sin. You are my Lord and Savior, now and forever. I believe that Father God raised You from the dead and that You are alive today at the right hand of God. Because of Your finished work, I am now a beloved child of God, and heaven is my home. Thank You for giving me eternal life and filling my heart with peace and joy!
Amen
