A Question of Salvation

Why is our salvation called into question? Because to believe my salvation is sure means I can’t lose my salvation. In John 6:51 when Jesus said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” Jesus’ forever is really for always.

How is it He feeds us, and we will live forever?

For the Life of the World

Jesus is fresh bread from heaven for the world. When we feed on Him, as Jesus said, “he who comes to Me shall never hunger, and who believes in Me shall never thirst, John 6:35.” Jesus never means not at any time!

What are you feeding on?

Is Jesus your daily bread? Or is He an afterthought? To feed on Jesus is for life. He came for the world, for all to have a chance with Him in eternity. The time you spend talking to Him about your concerns is what He wants! Sure, this may sound like you’re using God, but He is your Father and wants to hear from you regardless of the reason. He doesn’t care why you come, just as long as you come.

Prodigal son, lost sheep!

See Luke 15:18-24, the prodigal son never stops being his son, he just went astray, and when he came back, he didn’t come back for the father; he came back for his belly. But the father didn’t care why his son returned, just that he returned!

In the same chapter in the Book of Luke, Jesus talks about the lost sheep. Jesus asks, “What man of you, having 100 sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the 99 in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it, (see Luke 15:4-7)? God truly cares about the one! This example is close to the heart of God. Remember, Jesus gets His directions from the Father. Jesus said, “He and the Father are one, John 10:30.”

He knows the end in the beginning, and His counsel shall stand forever.

Isaiah 46:9-11

In both situations, Jesus speaks about celebrating the return of the lost sheep and the irresponsible son. Neither were damned to hell nor lost for eternity. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand, John 10:27-28.”

For God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Jesus.

II Corinthians 5:21

God’s never means! Not at any time; remember He is the author of time! No one shall ever be able to remove you from His hands, beloved. Why am I declaring our salvation sure! Because it’s based on the finished works of Jesus Christ at the cross and not on the temporary works of the flesh.
