A Life That Honors God

Before I knew the Bible was the word of God, I mean before I understood the depth of God’s word like who He was and what He did. Reading the Bible as a child, I couldn’t understand it, but I could sense it was more than home decoration; it sat on the living room coffee table. An off-limit territory in the house. I would sneak into the living room to read that book. I could sense its power and authority.

What God did from the beginning of creation was about love. Learning God had a Son, and the Son came and died for my sin meant to love and devotion I couldn’t comprehend. Again, I felt drawn to read and think about this God of the Bible sitting on the living room coffee table. The more I thought, the more my curiosity grew.

The History of God

No sense of time is given in Genesis 1:1-2. God is outside of time, a concept I can’t understand, being a time-sensitive creator. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now for verse two, the earth was without form. Without form is described as no shape or structure. God can make something out of nothing, and He is the only one that can do that!

God Loves People

God sees generations, not years. Years imply a time frame; God isn’t ruled by time as man. Generations are about people, and God loves people. People are more important to God than anything. We human beings place value upon the tangible. To know the love of God in Christ is invaluable. What Jesus did at the cross is priceless. For an infinite God to send a Savior for them that will believe in Him and the one that sent Him is an infinite concept.

Unfathomable is God; he is beyond comprehension. How can I be a mere man honor such a one? It seems such an impossible feat. I’m talking about someone that created the universe out of nothing by speaking; I can’t comprehend the gravity of such a one, again; how can I honor Him?

Receive His Son the Gift of Righteousness

Accept His Son and His finished works at the cross. The miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ and His resurrection was for us, the believer, not Him. Jesus didn’t need to come for Himself; He came for the believer. Okay, let me try to wrap my head around that just for a moment; an infinite God loves me, a believer, and doesn’t want me to burn in hell for eternity when I leave this body. My spirit and soul are eternal, and they must be housed somewhere in eternity.

Eternity! Father God is in that existence; it can’t be a place, like the earth, or is it? Streets of gold, Revelation 21 says, heaven is a place! A beautiful place with jewels I can’t imagine. Their no sadness and crying there. The place is lit up with the glory of the Father and the Son.

A life that honors God is honoring His Son. He is the author and finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2). Sit at the feet of Jesus, hang on to His every word like Mary (Luke 10:39).

That honors God!
